Moorcroft Stoke on Trent 100 Plaque Royal Commemorative The Sweet dreams lamb is2025 marks 100 years since Stoke on Trent was granted city status by His Majesty King George V, and throughout the year, the city has been alive with celebration. The first application for city status was actually refused by the Home Office because Stoke on Trent had fewer than 300,000 inhabitants. It was a direct approach to King George V which changed the course of our history and on 5th June 1925, Stoke on Trent gained its well deserved city status
