Instituted 23 December 1829. (1848 1918 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised and rightward facing profile of King Friedrich August, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse bearing a central raised inscription of DEM VERDIENSTE 1914 (TO MERIT 1914), situated within a circular oak leaf wreath, unmarked, measuring 35.
