A very well preserved, privately purchased set of epaulettes belonging to a retired Lieutenant General of the Imperial Russian Army Guards Regiment. Each epaulette is constructed of a padded, smooth red wool base, topped by a layer of fine woven silver aluminum wire threading. Both are trimmed at the exterior with an array of silver aluminum wire tassels, emanating from a cascading fringe of identical construction. The outer edge of each is
